Muscle injuries are the most common type of injury in football. The rectus femoris (RF) is a particularly common injury site given its role the sport's repeated kicks, accelerations, and decelerations [8]. Specifically for women’s football, while there is not clear evidence whether women experience RF injuries at different rates or different pathoanatomical locations than men, we have observed enthesial or very proximal symptoms in our players. This difference may be attributed to the sex-specific biomechanical demands and hormonal influences that affect female athletes.
