Building confidence through different exposures and scenarios is essential along the return to play continuum, and is often biased towards running and sport specific skills on the training field. These components of sport are obviously essential. However, they can overshadow an important facet of rehabilitation programming: the implementation of a periodised strength training plan for key positions or exercises in the gym before a player is exposed to them on the field.
