Warren Young is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in a voluntary capacity at Federation University Australia (Fed Uni), after working there on a full-time basis for over 30 years. Warren’s role involves teaching and undertaking research into various aspects of physical preparation for sport and the development of biomechanics. He developed a Master of Strength and Conditioning degree at Fed Uni, and his research topics included training and assessment of speed, agility, power, and reactive strength. He holds a PhD from Southern Cross University and wrote his thesis on testing strength and power in athletes.


Warren worked by secondment with the Australian Institute of Sport for 3 years as a Strength Scientist in the 1990s prior to acting as a consultant to the Hawthorn Hawks AFL team for 3 years between 2007 and 2009. He holds a Level 2 coaching accreditation in strength and conditioning, track and field (jumps), in addition to being an Australian S&C Association (ASCA) life member and volunteer strength and conditioning coach with Australian Rules football players, sprinters and jumpers.
