Presentation description
Computer vision and artificial intelligence are everywhere. In the modern era of sports performance, raw data can tell us what is happening — but video analysis reveals why it’s happening. Athletes efficiency, coordination and adaptation under fatigue all influence performance. Video analysis bridges the gap between observable technique and measurable output, providing the critical insight needed to turn marginal gains into leaps forward.
In this presentation, Ryan Grubbs takes us through how he trains his athletes at the Houston Texans and how Vue Motion is aiding them coach speed more effectively. Ryan lays out how he goes about enhancing projection, switching and reactivity, a model developed by Jonas Dodoo and the Speedworks team.
Learning objectives
- Understand how detailed video analysis (e.g. with high-frame rate tools like Vue Motion) can reveal patterns and technical determinants of speed performance.
- Identify specific sprint mechanics or movement features (stride, posture, foot contact, drive phase etc.) that can be quantified via video and relate to speed deficits.
- Develop a process for integrating video-based feedback into speed training interventions to correct technical inefficiencies and monitor progress.
About the presenter
Ryan has been involved in strength and conditioning and rehabilitation for the past 15 years. He has held positions at multiple universities including Ole Miss, Purdue, Liberty, and Louisiana Tech. He currently holds the position of Director of Reconditioning Return to Football with the Houston Texans.
