Smarter speed training in college football: From data collection to intervention

Presentation description

In this presentation, Les will detail exactly what he has done over the last 2 years working with University of Arizona Football. He will explain what the objectives were, what has led to a dramatic reduction in injuries and what has been the most impactful changes to the programme which have led to improved performances on the field.

Les will showcase his testing and monitoring framework, some of the data that he has collected and explain how that has informed his programming across the last 24 months.

Learning objectives

  • Articulate how to build and implement a performance testing and monitoring system that meaningfully informs speed programming.
  • Interpret key data metrics (e.g. load, force, velocity) and understand their role in diagnosing weaknesses or injury risk.
  • Design evidence-based interventions (strength, plyometric, conditioning, recovery) based on data trends and program feedback loops.
