Presentation description
Cory Schlesinger introduces microdosing performance — a constraint-led framework for in-season training of team sport athletes that spreads the weekly stressor load across 6–7 short, separated sessions rather than concentrating it into 2–3 longer ones. Drawing on a decade of work in NCAA Division I athletics at Stanford and in the NBA, he details how the model’s pliability accommodates the chaos of travel, scheduling, equipment limitations and individual variation, while keeping intensity high and interference with skill development, tactical work and competition low.
Learning objectives
- Define the microdosing framework and articulate how separating stressor types across 6–7 short sessions differs from conventional 2–3 session in-season models
- Apply Cory’s four pillars (environment, profiling, programming, periodisation) to design individualised in-season prescriptions for starters, rotation and reserve players
- Interpret embedded testing data — including CMJ force-time traces and local ISO testing — to monitor rate limiters and movement signatures across a competitive season
About the presenter
Cory Schlesinger is a strength and conditioning coach whose career spans collegiate athletics at Stanford University (NCAA Division I) and professional basketball in the NBA. Over the past decade he has developed and refined the microdosing performance framework across both practice-based and game-based environments, designing individualised in-season prescriptions for starters, rotation players and reserves through the constraints of an 82-game season.
