How to utilise “true” plyometrics

Thu 18th Jan 2024 20:00

We all know that jump training is a continuum with “true” plyometrics are the higher end in terms of intensity. So how do we utilise these potent exercises in a safe and effective manner in team sports?

We have Eamonn Flanagan joining us for this Premium Q&A. Eamonn is the lead Strength & Conditioning Consultant with the Sport Ireland Institute where he manages the S&C support to Ireland’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Amongst other areas of expertise, Eamonn is a leading coach in both the science and practice of jump training and plyometrics, has a PhD. in Sports Biomechanics and previously worked in professional rugby over a decade.

While the discussion will be led by Premium members, we do have some key themes to kick us off:

  • What are the differences between jump training and “true” plyometrics?
  • How do we quantify the intensity of “true” plyometrics?
  • Where do these fit within the overall programme?
