Primary Responsibilities
Rehabilitation & Return to Performance
- Lead the physical preparation component of the rehabilitation process for assigned players from early-stage loading through return to full baseball participation.
- Collaborate closely with Medical and Performance staff to establish objective rehabilitation plans, progressions, and return-to-performance criteria.
- Design and coach individualized strength, power, speed, and energy-system development programs based on injury considerations, player needs, and baseball demands.
- Integrate objective performance data into rehabilitation decision-making and progression.
- Identify physical qualities that may have contributed to injury risk or been negatively affected during time loss and develop plans to address them.
- Ensure the transition from rehabilitation to team training is deliberate and prepares the athlete for the demands they will encounter when returning to competition.
- Communicate player status, progress, limitations, and next steps clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Academy S&C Leadership
- Provide leadership and technical oversight for Strength & Conditioning operations within the organization’s Academy environments.
- Support Academy S&C coaches in program design, implementation, and problem-solving.
- Help establish consistent standards for coaching quality, training environments, testing, monitoring, and player development while allowing coaches appropriate autonomy.
- Develop Academy S&C staff through regular feedback, observation, education, and mentorship.
- Help coaches create organized, competitive, high-energy training environments that reinforce organizational standards.
- Assist with onboarding and development of new S&C staff, fellows, and interns.
- Serve as a connection between Academy S&C staff and department leadership, helping information and organizational priorities move effectively in both directions..
