Reporting to the High Performance Director, the Chief Medical Officer serves as WAIS’s senior medical leader, providing strategic oversight of clinical governance, physician alignment, patient safety and healthcare delivery across the organisation.
The role acts as the primary escalation point for complex and high-risk clinical matters and provides expert advice on medical policy, clinical standards and athlete healthcare systems.
The role requires a regular on-site presence at WAIS to support clinical oversight, relationship building and integration within the High Performance team.
Key areas of focus include:
- Leading clinical governance, patient safety and medical quality across WAIS.
- Establishing and maintaining clinical standards and best practice frameworks.
- Providing strategic medical advice to the CEO, Board and High Performance Director.
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of WAIS’s medical service model.
- Guiding and aligning contracted Sports Physicians and medical service delivery.
- Building strong relationships across the National Institute Network and the broader Australian high-performance sport system.
- Contributing to multidisciplinary athlete care and performance health initiatives.
