Dr Chris Bramah, PhD is a Consultant Physiotherapist at the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance, a Researcher in Biomechanics and a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Salford. He specialises in the clinical application of biomechanics for injury assessment, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation. Chris began his career in Rugby League before transitioning to elite athletics, supporting British Athletics and Team GB athletes across major international events, including the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the 2017 London World Championships, and IAAF Diamond League events.
He currently works at the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance providing physiotherapy and biomechanics consultancy services to a range of athletes and professional sports teams, aiding in injury diagnostics, rehabilitation planning, and return-to-sport decision-making. He has led the development of integrated clinical assessment services that combine sports science testing and biomechanics to address recurrent injuries and assist in rehabilitation and return-to-play strategies. Chris holds a PhD in Running Biomechanics, with research focusing on kinematic contributions to running injuries and their implications for rehabilitation.
His current research continues to explore the clinical applications of biomechanics in sports injuries, rehabilitation, and performance, with ongoing studies into ACL and hamstring injury biomechanics, sprint and endurance running biomechanics, and the use of force plate technology in musculoskeletal injury assessment and management. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences.
