Ben McKay is the driving force behind the University of Oregon’s sports science programme, with a primary focus on football performance and athlete well‑being. Since joining the Ducks’ Athletic Department in 2018, he has spearheaded athlete monitoring systems—from GPS and heart rate variability tracking to advanced readiness models—designed to optimise training load, recovery, and long‑term availability. Ben holds Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology. He is currently undertaking a second Master’s by Research, investigating the physiological effects of training and competition in collegiate football.
