From speed to game speed to agility assessment and prescription

Tony Villani

Presentation description

Weight lifting and speed progressions and numerous, yet proven agility progressions are hard to discover. Simply training deceleration is not enough. This presentation from Tony Villani will focus on progressions for turning track speed into game speed, what speeds are optimal to change direction, great deceleration drills, foot placement progressions and agility prescription.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the key speed zones and deceleration thresholds that enable effective change of direction in sport.
  • Understand and apply progression models for agility training, including foot placement, deceleration drills, and turn mechanics.
  • Prescribe individualized agility and deceleration training interventions that translate track speed into game-relevant movement.
