Presentation description
In this presentation, you’ll explore how to individualize initial acceleration programs for sprinters by linking each athlete’s mechanical profile to tailored training strategies, with additional integration of spatiotemporal variables, and shin-roll kinematic behaviour. You’ll see how profiling force–velocity characteristics and recognizing individual constraints can help you move beyond one-size-fits-all plans toward more efficient and effective acceleration development.
Learning objectives
- Interpret an athlete’s force–velocity sprint profile and identify strengths/deficits relevant to acceleration phases.
- Design individualized training interventions (resisted sprints, assisted sprints, technique work) targeting the proper segment of the force–velocity curve.
- Monitor adaptation and progression by linking mechanical outputs to performance changes and adjusting programming accordingly.
About the presenter
Jonas is a sport scientist with the German Athletics Association and a PhD researcher at the German Sport University Cologne. His expertise is in sprint biomechanics, focusing on profiling movement patterns to optimize performance. Alongside his research, he supports an elite sprint training group and has coached several Olympians, bringing scientific insight directly into daily training practice.
