Helen Bayne is a sport scientist whose career has included positions in elite sport performance support, academic research and teaching, and consulting to sports governing bodies and technology companies. She holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport. As an applied practitioner, specialising in biomechanics, Helen has worked intensively across sports such as athletics, cricket, swimming, and rowing, to provide insights that inform athlete preparation and competition performance. Over three quadrennials in South Africa and Australia, Helen has directly supported more than 30 Olympians and their coaches. Integrating research and practice, Helen has published numerous scientific outputs and is a regular contributor to academic and applied conferences. She is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and sport science education to aid practitioners in delivering best practice support to coaches and athletes, and writes on these themes on her website.
