Presentation description
One of America’s elite speed performance coaches. Les has trained several Olympians as well as athletes in the NFL, NCAA, and USA rugby. Most notably, however, he has guided a large percentage of youth athletes to college scholarships.
In this presentation, Les takes us through his journey with data, detailing how he assesses each athlete to understand exactly what they need to help him guide training. This process helps him maintain effective speed training year-round. Les explains how he managed a number of NFL 1st round draft picks and gives us an incredible insight into exactly what he does with his football athletes at the University of Arizona.
Learning objectives
- Recognize the significance of continuous speed exposure and understand why maintaining high-velocity training throughout the year is vital for consistent performance gains and injury resilience.
- Apply strategic micro-dosing of resisted sprint work via low-volume resisted runs during the season help sustain acceleration and speed qualities without fatigue.
- Implement phased year-round periodization: Grasp how to schedule training that targets weaknesses in early off-season and transitions toward strength maintenance and confidence going into pre-season and in-season phases.
