Tzlil is a sport scientist and physical performance coach, currently a Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Wollongong (Australia). His main focus is bridging research and applied practice, with particular interest in monitoring, programming, and evaluating strategies to optimise athlete performance, support recovery, and safeguard well-being. His research has pioneered the use of embedded monitoring and testing approaches in team sports, most notably through extensive studies on submaximal fitness tests, which have advanced understanding of how such tools can be integrated into training environments to assess athlete responses and physiology through the effective use of technology, data analytics, and innovation.
Beyond his academic role, he delivers strategic expertise and applied solutions to governing bodies, sports organisations from amateur to elite levels, and technology companies, as well as providing mentorship to athletes and coaches worldwide. He also serves as a consultant to FIFA’s women’s division. Through his professional practice, he is committed to excellence and impact, striving to translate science into practical and meaningful insights that guide decision-making strategies, enhance performance, and prioritise athlete well-being.
