Shawn Myszka is a highly passionate and innovative skill acquisition specialist who is driven to change the way that coaches view the emergence of skillful movement behavior within sport performance, designing practice environments which facilitate functional problem-solving for athletes, and channeling the positive transfer from training to competitive performance demands. Since 2008, he has operated as a Performance Advisor and Movement & Skill Acquisition Specialist for individual NFL players. In that capacity, he has worked with over 140 professional football players including six All-Pro selections and 13 Pro Bowl Team members. Being one of the first across the United States to utilize an ecological approach in American football, Shawn created a football-specific movement blog in 2013, Football Beyond the Stats, where he continues to uniquely break down the movement skills of the top players in the sport while discussing how ecological dynamics can deeper our understanding of movement behavior on the field and advance our practice activities. In 2018, Shawn founded the Sport Movement Skill Conference to bring those on both sides of theory and practice together to more effectively operate within vital roles related to skill acquisition in sport and further advance the field. The following year, Shawn cofounded Emergence in an attempt to change the lens that professionals view skillful sport movement behavior through. Through Emergence in 2025, Shawn helped launch a vision he has held for over a decade in creating the first-ever certification credential in the skill acquisition field, the Certified Skill Acquisition Specialist (CSAS).
